Here are some free patterns for tatted edgings in which the author makes use of slightly more advanced techniques. Two shuttle work, tatting with beads - anything goes!

Blooming Trellis by Eliz Davis [offsite link]
The first portion of the bookmark would make dainty floral effect edging.

Butterfly Eleonore Endrucks-Leichtenstern
An original edging by Eleonore Endrucks-Leichtenstern, (German) Leipzig, Germany, Beyers Handarbeitsbücher 9, 1922, morphed into a potential butterfly.

Doc´s Country Heart Edging [offsite link]
Here is one of the newest patterns on the Net. Dimpled rings create little hearts - an ideal pattern for St Valentine´s Day!

Edging from Priscilla Yoke - Dagmar Pezzuto
This pattern has been rewritten by Dagmar Pezzuto. It is a Priscilla Yoke pattern from 1916. Dagmar made some changes to better fit her towel.

Edging with Interlocking Rings
Here is another charming tatting pattern shared by Dagmar Pezzuto. It is tatted with regular rings, split rings and interlocking rings. Two shuttles are required to achieve this effect. Since there are interlocking rings, celtic style, a narrow shuttle will need to pass through a completed ring.

Exchange Edging [offsite link]
This lovely edging is by Christiane Eichler. It combines two edgings to create a new look for an old favourite. Uses split rings.

Floating Ring Edging [offsite link]
Snowgoose have produced an edging with different coloured rings on top of rings which is quite unusual. It´s made by running two threads through the core of the stitches so that the second colour can be brought out when needed.

Mignonette - Emmy Liebert
